And getting hold of what they really mean expands one's vision of the grace of God. But in my experience, there was a lack of balance in the teaching and attitude of the leadership at my former church that somehow blotted out grace with the continual reminders of our total depravity. I love these doctrines, yet my experience has caused me to want to stay away from any type of labels, especially the "Reformed" one. God did not, nor does He now, speak only through men who would call themselves staunch Calvinists. In my experience, I grew to almost be repulsed by anything "Puritan", and I am sad to say that I am off that "diet" that I consumed for so long. God is not to be put into a theological "camp", and I no longer want to camp out in any one campground. I want the truth, without classifications or labels. Though I appreciate all that God did through the Reformers, they were mere men, like the rest of us. God grant me clarity of understanding, and lack of predjudice, to see truth wherever He chooses to show it to me.

Thank you for your often comments. Far from being a "dry heart" theology, it's a warm and inviting theology that holds out hope to even the worse of sinners.Ikehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09595879576794400791noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3259928642995486244.post-74309001347642797162008-10-19T21:14:00.000-04:002008-10-19T21:14:00.000-04:00Thanks for the link Anon. We have literally the same background, in terms of being raised Catholic, but then switching gears completely to a Pentacostal/Charismatic SMC (Sunday Morning Club)...how these affected us...and finally how the Spirit led me out of the SMC into living in the wild of following Him intimately.

(By the way, in case you are curious, I found your Blog off of Aida Carter's.) :)

I could really related to the following statement from "back then;" "Somehow along the way I got the notion that I needed to “feel” that God loved me before I could be confident that He did....but really, to be “greatly used” of Him, I needed to be “on fire” for Him. I encountered the idea that God would act on my prayers only if I had enough faith. If I didn’t get answers, then there was sin in my life, or I simply didn’t believe Him enough."

I'd love to "talk" to you more...and perhaps share more details of my "Life Story." Been there and done it all too, except for the Catholic part, but my husband did that part.

I, too, am finding myself very much in the same place that you are. Searching for the real Jesus, and my real Daddy. In fact I have a blog post in draft mode on this very subject, I had so far titled "They Got The Wrong Guy!" In fact I recently wrote a similar one 2 days after you wrote this. Here is the link: http://spiritunleashed.blogspot.com/2008/07/will-real-letter-i-please-stand-up.html

I am really thrilled with what I sense is Father's awakening, in His people, the Church.

Thanks for your post.Free Spirithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00942692680513002360noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3259928642995486244.post-69610140474644582912008-07-22T16:16:00.000-04:002008-07-22T16:16:00.000-04:00Hi Melanie,Wonderful first post.
